What is the difference between matte lipstick and normal lipstick?
Lipstick comes in all beautiful shapes, sizes as well as textures. Which texture you choose depends on person to person - considering the event, concerns and practicality. Lipsticks also can be in both bullet and liquid formats. A normal lipstick may refer to the classic creamy lipstick bullet that has been around since 1915, whereas a Matte lipstick refers to a texture that has no shine on the lip, and this is available in both a normal bullet and a liquid wand format. Here at MAC, Matte bullet lipsticks come in 3 varying formulas, for example, a red in each formula would be Retro Matte Lipstick Ruby Woo for an intense matte, MACximal Silky Matte Lipstick Chili for a creamier matte, and Powder Kiss Lipstick Werk, Werk, Werk for a balm-like matte.
These all would be complimented with matching Ruby Woo Lip Pencil for a defined, precise look, whereas on deeper skin tones the shade Chestnut would tie them together beautifully! When comparing these to a liquid lip, we have equivalent colours in 2 formulas; Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour Feels So Grand for our best pigment and Powder Kiss Liquid Lipstick M.A.CSmash for a blurred effect. The main difference in bullet and liquid lipstick is the application, as the liquid format contains a specialised brush tip applicator to quickly and easily apply to the lips. Both bullet and liquid formats have a long-lasting finish of 8-10 hours, however due to the nature of the liquid formula, it definitely wins for longevity!
Our Retro Matte Lipsticks in both liquid and bullet formats are the best choice if you want intense colour payoff and ultra matte texture. Don't forget to give your lips a smooth, velvet base using our Prep & Prime Lip to ensure a comfortable wear for these ultra matte finishes!
