What is a lip brush?

I wish I was one of those people that could apply a red lipstick straight from the bullet in 2 sweeps, press the lips together and voila a perfect lip. Who are these people? I need a lot more precision in my life!

To get a perfect lip, most people need a bit more help, which is wear a lip pencil and a lip brush definitely help. A lip brush can give you a really sharp and precise edge to your lipstick and is particularly important if your not using a lip pencil.

The first thing to recommend is a lip brush that has a cover. If you're putting your brush in your handbag or makeup bag you don't want to be painting the inside with of your bag with Ruby Woo lipstick. The 316 Lip Brush comes with a metal cover to keep it secure and has synthetic tapered fibres for accuracy and to create the most flattering lip shape. The 318 Lip Brush is retractable which makes it lovely and compact but opens up to a full size brush.

To take perfection to the next level and to help alter the lip shape I would use a Lip Pencil alongside my brush. Another type of brush that I use for lips is a fluffy brush to create a soft blurred look and I would use a 217S Blending Brush. Once you've applied your lipstick, take the fluffy brush and gently blend along the lip edge for soft focus finish. It's great for blending an ombre lip too! When it comes to cleaning your lip brushes, you'll need a little oil on them first, an oil based makeup remover works well and then follow it up with Brush Cleanser to make sure all the colour is out and the oil is rinsed away.
